Fennec is the name of the build of the Mozilla Firefox web browser for smaller non-PC devices, mobile phone devices and PDAs.
While Fennec is based on Firefox, the user interface is completely redesigned and introduces a number of new paradigms. It uses touchscreen interaction methods (or the cursor keys, for non-touchscreen handsets) in place of dragging actions with a mouse. Some of the add-ons and plug-ins available for Mozilla Firefox are available for Fennec.
Name
The name of the browser comes from a Fennec Fox, a small desert fox (just as the Fennec Browser is a small version of Firefox browser).
Platforms
It is currently available in beta version for Nokia Maemo based N800/N810 devices, and in alpha version for Windows Mobile. Work is underway for Symbian OS based mobile devices.
It is also possible to run Fennec on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and some Linux distributions.
