AOL Mail

AOL Mail (sometimes referred to as AIM Mail) is a web-based email (webmail) service provided by AOL. Its main competitors are Gmail, Windows Live Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail. The "AIM" in the name stands for AOL Instant Messenger, AOL's instant messaging program. AOL Mail is free and also features an option for creating an email address for a custom domain.

* 16 MB attachments
* Spam protection
* Virus protection
* Spell checking
* An AIM Panel with a full Buddy List and indicators to show presence of online buddies, as well as shortcuts to sponsored popular web sites.
* An AOL-exclusive email unsend capability (provided the message is sent to another AOL or AIM mailbox).

Advertising is displayed while working with the e-mail account. Users can also read and send mail using IMAP and POP3 capable email programs, such as Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, and Apple Mail.

Customized Domain (Tunome)

AOL mail has recently launched Tunome which gives users customized domain names for example: luckymail.com, games.com and blackvoices.com.

New Development

AOL Mail recently launched a new beta version of their webmail with new applications and a newer colour scheme.

Technology acquired by AOL for AOL Mail

In 2004, AOL acquired antispam company Mailblocks, inc. with the stated purpose of integrating its challenge-response technology into AOL Mail.
