Sleep emailing

Sleep emailing is described as an episode of somnambulism, more commonly known as sleepwalking, in which the patient writes an email after turning the computer on, connecting to the Internet and remembering the password to access the email account.

The first recorded case of Internet use while asleep was recorded in December 2008, when research staff from the University of Toledo published a report regarding a 44-year-old woman who, in her sleep, turned on her computer, connected to the Internet and sent three emails. The report appeared in the medical journal Sleep Medicine.
