Boost Traffic To Your Blog - Five Best Ways to Do It!

by: Rob McWayne

With a new Blog you have two main objectives; first you need to write specific original content - 3-5 times a week, and second you need to do lots of little free things to get the traffic going to it.

But you're reading this because you're constantly blogging and no one is reading, right?

OK! That is exactly how it should be when you start! (What, am I crazy?) No.

Really, think about it. . . You know what I'm going to say . . . Yup. Everybody starts from the beginning! Every millionaire guru was a frustrated beginner, feeling like a loser, at some point.

So You're in great company!

And here's the thing to get deep in your gut: all of this is hard when you don't know it, and you get to know it by DOING IT. . . THEN MAGICALLY IT"S EASY! Period.

Becoming successful online is hard, persistent work, but NOT as hard as you think. And it's definitely NOT impossible. Don't give up yet, because as promised, here are five great free traffic tips to get traffic to your blog - fast. You know what "they" say, "Traffic is king", so lets start there.

The 5 Gotta Do's below will start the eyeballs rolling across your pages quickly!

#1 Gotta Do Your Keyword Research

Excited bloggers often make the mistake of thinking they can just throw some junk posts up there and expect to get traffic. There is actually a lot more to it than that!

You need to make sure you're using good keyword stats to find terms that are getting a lot of searches. You definitely want your terms to have low competition so it's easier for you to rank. Once you start writing your blog posts around these power keywords you should find your efforts rewarded with a lot more traffic.

#2 Gotta Do: Write Enticing Articles Off-Site

OMG more writing! (Bet you wish you'd paid more attention in English, now!) Not to worry, this kind of writing is not for some prize in great literature!

Writing little articles containing your link and submitting them to article directories isn't just a good way to get backlinks to your site, and increase your rankings on Google etc, it's also a great way to get readers! And buyers!

Write like you're talking to a friend who wants to learn from you. Just explain what you know. Article directory sites have their own loyal fan readers, and many are people who are looking for the exact topic you're blogging about. If you write a compelling article that leads into your resource box, people will be driven to visit your blog.

#3 Gotta Do: Give People a Reason to Come Back

Getting people to come read your blog posts is one thing, but what you really want as a blogger is to have them coming back over and over again. You want them to become avid fans! You want them to trust your opinions, and buy on your recommendations!

The best way to do that is to present visitors with fantastic special offers in your squeeze/opt-in box. Or you can give away a new prize each week to the person who leaves the best comment. Or you can run a contest or quiz for those who post.

Make your blog a happening place to be and people will want to visit it often and tell their friends. Always give really good information, maybe something you just learned about, yourself.

#4 Gotta Do: Create Linkbait

Linkbait is when you write a blog post that is so exciting or controversial it gets people to come to your blog, comment, and link to the post. You may share some shocking news or offer an opinion you know is bound to stir up people's emotions and get them talking - maybe "yelling"!

You do need to be thick skinned when you write linkbait! Don't expect everyone to agree with you. And don't get angry when they get riled up with their comments. Moderate the responses tightly, and maybe ask a few more questions that keep the discussion going.

An example of linkbait is voicing an opinion that is, (or sounds at first like it's) the opposite of everyone else's.

#5 Gotta Do: Find and Comment on Related Blogs

Use your keywords to look up other blogs that are closely related to yours at Technorati and Blog Search. Go read what's being talked about and make a few useful comments, or even post a few short articles you've written (about 300 words). This is free advertising!

You'll gradually increase your page ranking with the backlinks in your signature every time you post, but more importantly you'll get a serious boost in your live visitors and thus in your sales. With your irresistible offers, they'll keep coming back, too.

Now, go do what you Gotta Do! These are five free, simple, solid start-off ways you can boost traffic to your blog quickly. When you put these methods to work you'll realize that getting traffic rolling to your site is simple and soon to become just common sense good habits.
